"Over several thousand years, Hanukkah has served Jewish peoples in many, even conflicting, ways. This Hanukkah Lamp honors the times in which the celebration signals a bright hopeful event, a Festival of Light, at the very time that others are bringing about pogroms that aim to destroy the celebrants. Here, the bright blue base holds candles light to the world. However, as a reminder, the underside is burned by flames as so often occurred in times of pogroms. The base survived.
