  • This is a large painting and is oil on canvas (40" x 40"). A little bit of background...In December I attended the wedding of a friend down in South Beach Miami. In the gardens of the next door hotel was a sculpture by Damien Hurst of a life-size mammoth skeleton, coated in gold. It is an incredible piece of art (entitled "Gone but Not Forgotten"), that provided a truly surreal experience. So this painting is all about the ability of art to take us out of time and place. The skeleton was mounted in a glass case that provided some wonderful reflections that distort the space and add to that other-worldly feel.
