• This picture is based on a visit to Lingering Gardens in the city of Suzhou, China, an ancient 16th Century Garden that has been the inspiration of many artists. I wanted to do something different by doing a painting of a bonsai tree inside one of the buildings, thus bringing the garden indoors and representing an ancient horticultural art. Bonsai has always fascinated me with its philosophy of trying to control nature and at the same time producing art through nature.
